Guilds on the Prometheus network serve as a means of communal organization around economic standards and growth. They set limitations upon the transactions that their members may engage in order to preserve a goal. As a benefit of membership members may display guild relevant information with their products and or profile information as means of identifying the commercial standards they adhere to. In order to make transactions that violate guild criteria a user must leave the guild. Guilds may have criteria for membership that affect how members may join. The primary mechanism of guild standards is through smart contracts. These can be written as read-only smart contracts that examine available network data on transactions to deny or approve transactions.
